Lookism Chapter 553, one of the most awaited chapters, is finally here. I have not been this hyped for a chapter since the Big Daniel vs Lil Daniel fight in Chapter 468 (Workers 1st Affiliate arc). Even though the result of Jinrang vs Kitae Kim was kinda obvious, the conviction mode still made the chapter way more exciting for fans, including me.
Out of all the people who could come to the rescue, Jake Kim was not someone I expected. He is the leader of Big Deal, one of the four major crews in Seoul, and also the son of Gapryong Kim, half-brother of Kitae Kim.
Back in the Hunt for Gun Park arc, Kitae Kim came to Seoul and teamed up with Goo Kim. He went straight for Jake Kim. His actual goal was to kill him, but after hearing Jake’s answer to one of his questions, he let him go.
The latest chapter turned out way better than expected, especially after we had to sit through Jinrang’s backstory arc and that random Allied vs Busan fight. We are finally back to peak Lookism. The last time the series felt this intense was during the Hunt for Gun Park arc, when the whole second generation went after Gun Park, and even then, he was still standing at the end.
Kitae Kim is starting to feel like that same kind of threat, but way more aggressive. He does not care if people are watching him kill. He literally murders people in broad daylight. That mindset comes from his time in Mexico, where cartels kill people openly just to spread fear.
Conviction Mode Jinrang vs Kitae Kim
Lookism Chapter 553 starts with Jake Kim arriving in Busan. Meanwhile, the scene shifts back to where the previous chapter concluded, Hwang Jungseok jumped on Kitae Kim after Sang Baek stepped in front of Jinrang while Kitae was about to land the final hit with his axe. Sang Baek took the hit instead. Then Hwang started fighting Kitae, but got axed too. Finally, conviction mode Jinrang stood up and managed to land a few clean hits on Kitae Kim. He did some minor damage, but it was not close to enough to take down a monster like him.
Kitae Kim then used his axe on Jinrang, and Jinrang used his hand to defend his face from the axe, which inflicted alot of damage to his hand. It messed up his hand badly, but even then, he kept going. The flashback of Gapryong Kim revealed that Jinrang’s new power-up will also self-inflict damage. And it did in the fight, his other arm bones also started to break.
He pulled the axe out of his arm and tried swinging it back at Kitae using his other broken hand.
But Kitae was already ahead. He caught the axe easily, kicked Jinrang in the stomach, grabbed Jinrang’s damaged arm, and raised the axe to cut it clean. That is when things started to go way out of control.
Meanwhile, Daniel Park woke up. But it was not UI Daniel or heat mode Daniel, just base form second body. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Kitae getting ready to kill Jinrang for good. Daniel tried to move in, but Goo Kim stopped him by literally sitting on him. Goo did not want Daniel to die since he is Gun Park’s disciple, and he knew Gun would become sad if he heard Daniel had been killed. Goo also has a soft corner for the new generation, so he just kept Daniel pinned down.
While Daniel was stuck, Kitae went ahead and actually cut off Jinrang’s arm with the axe. And just as he raised the axe again to hit Jinrang’s head, Jake Kim showed up. The timing was right at the edge. Jake did not fight yet, but he delayed the execution and saved Jinrang for the moment.
Lookism Chapter 553 ended on a cliffhanger with Gapryong Kim’s sons meeting each other again. The chapter is now available to purchase with coins on Naver Webtoon in Korean.
