In Lookism, the term generation is used to explain different eras of fighters. There are three main generations confirmed by PTJ, but later on, another one was revealed too, the 1.5 Generation. This one only includes Goo, Gun, and Sinu.
The first generation started after the old generation (called pre-generation) disappeared. That happened when Gapryong Kim left the underworld to join politics, and he passed down his empire to his people. James Lee explained this in chapter 359. But giving away the empire caused a lot of problems. It led to many fights and started the age of circles. James Lee even called this time the generation of war.

After that, the remaining pre-gen members started training students and building groups called circles. The strongest fighters in these circles became kings and ruled over certain cities and areas in South Korea. They had full control over those places.
However, the age of circles ended when James Lee began taking them down one by one. He took a part of their bodies after each fight. For example, he took Gongseob Ji’s leg and Taesoo Ma’s eye. He did the same to most of the other kings, too.
This was his way to destroy the first gen and bring in a new era, the age of crews, which was part of Charles Choi’s plan. Now we are in the second generation, also called the generation of crews. This is the current timeline in Lookism. Some of the second-gen fighters were trained by the first-gen kings or older fighters. I will cover only the most prominent kings in this article in detail!
King | Region Ruled |
---|---|
Jichang Kwak | Seoul and Chungcheong |
Seongji Yuk | Cheonliang |
Gongseob Ji | Daegu |
Taesoo Ma | Ansan |
Kitae Kim | Seoul |
Jinrang | Busan |

Jichang Kwak – Ex King of Seoul and Chungcheong
Jichang Kwak was one of the strongest kings from the first generation in Lookism. Even after his death in the story, people still say stuff like “bring someone like Jichang Kwak if you wanna win”, which just shows how strong his name still is.
He was originally the King of Seoul, and during the Cheonliang arc, he beat the Kojima brothers, who were known as 0th generation fighters. His main move was called Hand Blade, and Charles Choi gave him the nickname “Tactician” because of how smart he was in fights.
But things did not stay that way. Jichang got defeated by Kitae Kim, who is the son of Gapryong Kim, and barely made it out alive and got kicked out of Seoul, and lost his title. Kitae became the new king of Seoul but left the city after beating Jichang Kwak.
Later, Jichang Kwak went to Chungcheong, fought the king there, and took over that region. But like all the other kings, James Lee came for him. After defeating Seongji Yuk, James had promised to end the age of kings and start the age of crews for Charles Choi. James did not take any of his body parts like he did with others. He let him go out of pity.
After losing, Jichang left that life behind and started working as a police officer. Then, in chapter 440, Daniel Park asked Jichang to join his crew. Jichang said no for now, saying he had stuff to finish first and he’d join later once it is all settled. As Bakgu found proof against Charles Choi, Charles kills both Bakgu and Jichang Kwak, making it look like they killed each other.
I’ll show you the hand that made you so wary.

Seongji Yuk – King of Cheonliang
Seongji Yuk was the king of Cheonliang and was known as probably the strongest king during that time. He was trained and raised by Mujin Jin, who is said to be almost as strong as Gapryong Kim himself.
Seongji was also the first king to reach all three masteries, which is a big deal in the Lookism world. He actually hit his third mastery while fighting James Lee.
When the fight started in Chapter 491, both Seongji and James had two masteries each. James had speed and technique, and Seongji had endurance and strength. During the fight, Seongji unlocked the third one and became the first king to do it.
But the fight between him and James Lee did not finish. The pre-generation fighters, including Kojima Brothers took the kids hostage, and to protect them, Seongji gave up. Shinmyung Cheon cut off his extra finger and toe.
Even though the fight did not fully finish, it looked like James Lee was slightly stronger in the end, just based on those final moments.
Later on, Seongji was framed for killing Sujin Kim, and because of that, he took his own life. A really sad ending for one of the most powerful and respected kings.
You have never seen anyone who was better than you? I have!

Gongseob Ji – King of Daegu
Gongseob Ji, also known as the Crazy MONK, is the King of Daegu, and right now, he is the only king still alive who has achieved all three masteries. He created his own unique fighting style called The Iron Fortress, which is fully based on speed and endurance. He even passed this down to his student Zack Lee. This style worked perfectly for him since he had speed and endurance like steel, literally made to survive hits and move like lightning. But even someone like him could not escape James Lee.
During their fight, James Lee dropped a building on him, and Gongseob lost one of his legs. His speed, which used to be his strongest point, was gone because of that.
But he didn’t give up. He figured out a new way to fight with a prosthetic leg and came up with a move called One Step, One Death. This move lets him move just as fast as before, but only within a small space. We saw this in action during the Busan Arc when he fought Hashik Song.

Taesoo Ma – King of Ansan
Taesoo Ma, also known as The Ultimate Fist, was the King of Ansan. He got that title because he used to fight with only his right fist, and he had a strong conviction behind it, like, no matter what, he’d only use that one fist. And that belief made his right punch filled with conviction.
In Lookism Chapter 366, we saw a flashback where he fought James Lee for the first time. James actually acknowledged how strong his right hook was and also mentioned his durable body that just does not collapse.
Later, in Chapter 494, when he and the other kings came to save Seongji Yuk, Taesoo Ma defeated Beolgu Lee from the 0th generation with just his right hand.
But he ended up being a victim of James Lee too. James was going to cut off his finger so he could not punch again, but Taesoo asked him to take his eye instead, and James did. That moment kind of changed him. He gave up on his old conviction and started using both fists instead of just the right one.
He fought James again during the One Night Arc (Chapter 367). At first, James Lee actually said Taesoo got stronger, since he was dodging punches that were smashing through walls. But later during that same fight, James changed his mind and said Taesoo had become weaker.
He said the reason was because Taesoo lost the conviction behind his punch, now it is just anger, not the same focus and belief as before.
In the Busan Arc, Taesoo showed up again with Gongseob Ji to save Hudson Ahn and Zack Lee after Daniel asked for help. And he knocked out Jaegwang Do with one punch.
Taesoo Ma has two masteries, Speed and Strength, which totally fits his heavy one-hit punch style.

Jaegyeon Na – King of Incheon
Jaegyeon Na is the current King of Incheon, and unlike the other kings who lost body parts to James Lee, Jaegyeon did not fight him. Instead, he made a deal with James Lee. That deal has not been fully revealed yet, but it is clearly something related to Incheon, and that is the reason he ended up following James.
He first showed up in Lookism Chapter 481 when Daniel went to Cheonliang. His speed got highlighted when all the kings surrounded James Lee after he came for Seongji Yuk.
At that moment, James had already fought a tough battle against Seongji (who had 3 masteries), so he was injured and tired. He could not take on all the kings at once, so he chose to run, but out of everyone, Jaegyeon Na almost caught up to him.
Later in the Busan Arc, he joined Daniel and the Allied Crew when they went to Busan. But he was not really there to help them. James Lee gave him a different task. He told Jaegyeon to bring the King of Busan, Jinrang, to him. James made Daniel think Jinrang was the enemy, but in truth, James just wanted to take over Busan, even if it meant killing Jinrang.
During this arc, Jaegyeon fought Hyun Baekjin and beat him easily, like it was nothing. But when James later told him to bring both Daniel and Jinrang, the Allied Crew ended up defeating him.

Kitae Kim – King of Seoul
Kitae Kim is the current King of Seoul, but he does not really care about the title or the whole king thing. He is known as the most aggressive and violent king, and also the strongest one alive right now. Unlike the other kings who usually avoid killing, Kitae has openly murdered people. In the Busan Arc, we literally saw him kill two of the strongest Busan gang members without even caring where he was or who was watching.
He is the son of Gapryong Kim and the older brother of Jake Kim. According to the rumors shown in Lookism, Kitae and James Lee teamed up to kill Kitae’s own father, Gapryong Kim, and they have been working together ever since. Kitae even helped James get rid of the previous King of Seoul, Jichang Kwak. He actually wanted to kill Jichang, too, but the police showed up and tased him just in time. He ran away from the country for a while after that, but then came back and teamed up with James Lee and Goo Kim again.
In the Busan Arc, after Jaegyeon Na failed to bring Jinrang, Kitae Kim showed up with Goo Kim and literally destroyed the Allied Crew, including Daniel Park. He also defeated Jinrang, the King of Busan, and in Chapter 549, end panel, it looked like he might have killed him.
They were supposed to bring Jinrang to James Lee, but Kitae does not follow James, they are just partners. When he saw that Jinrang was not going to give up Busan, he pulled out his axe and stabbed him. It is not 100% confirmed if Jinrang died or if someone else jumped in to protect him, since the next chapter started showing Jinrang’s backstory.

Jinrang – King of Busan
Jinrang is the current King of Busan in Lookism. He took over the title after killing Dayoung Oh, who was the former King of Busan and also a disciple of Gapryong Kim. But after killing Dayoung, Jinrang was sent to jail. The latest chapter also revealed Gapryong Kim was the one who gave him the name Jinrang.
Before becoming the king or going to prison, Jinrang and his two closest friends worked under Dayoung Oh. They were like guard dogs, doing whatever Dayoung told them to. During the first generation fights, he even fought against all the other kings just because Dayoung ordered him to. But after meeting Jichang Kwak, things changed. Jichang helped him think for himself and not just follow orders blindly.
While Jinrang was locked up, he never met James Lee directly. But his crew did, and they suffered because of it. That is why Jinrang hates James Lee. So when Daniel Park and the Allied showed up in Busan, Jinrang thought they were just more of James Lee’s dogs.
During the Busan Arc, Jinrang and the Allied fought against Kitae Kim. They were completely overpowered, and Jinrang got taken down by Kitae Kim. He tried to fight back and got knocked out by Kitae Kim, but right at the last second, Sang Baek stepped in and took the hit instead.
That was the cliffhanger in Lookism Chapter 552, and now it looks like we are getting round two of Jinrang vs Kitae Kim in the next chapter.

Besides Jinrang and Dayoung Oh, Lookism also introduced a few more kings:
- Dayoung Oh, former King of Busan and a major part of Jinrang’s backstory
- Seokdu Wang, King of Suwon
- Doksu Heo, King of Pyeongtaek
- Jinyong Go, King of Seongnam
