Lookism Chapter 550 was released yesterday, and it continues Jinrang’s backstory after what happened in the Busan arc where Kitae Kim axed him. It is still not clear if Jinrang actually died or not, but for now, PTJ has taken the story back to show us Jinrang’s past. This new arc is called Gapryong Kim’s Disciple, and it also introduces another one of Gapryong’s students, who also used to be the King of Busan.

In this chapter, we also see how Jinrang met the legendary fighter Gapryong Kim. Jinrang actually fought him, but it was not even close, Gapryong one-shotted him and just walked away. But before leaving, he said he was impressed and hoped they’d meet again someday.

After that, Jinrang and his only two friends, Sang Baek and Hwang Jungseok, got promoted. They were no longer guarding the gate and instead became the bodyguards of Busan’s King at that time. But things did not go how they expected.

Dalyoung Oh, Gapryong Kim’s Disciple, Revealed

When Jinrang and his friends heard they’d be working under a disciple of Gapryong Kim, they thought he’d be strong, respectful, and fair, just like Gapryong Kim. But turns out, they were way off. The new king was Dalyoung Oh, and his personality was totally different.

The first thing Dalyoung asked them was to lick his foot. Jinrang and the others were shocked. It was clear right away that this guy was not like Gapryong at all.

Dalyoung Oh ruled Busan in a messed-up way. He used Gapryong’s name to justify everything he did and believed that since his teacher was a savior, he deserved to control everything now. Basically, he became the most corrupt guy in the city.

But later it’s shown that Dalyoung was not always this bad. He changed after he got involved with Yongpal Bae and Jongnam Hwang, the old No. 2 and No. 3 of Busan. They used him to create the Busan Gang and brought out the worst side of him.

Jinrang vs First Generation Kings

Kings were already introduced in the Lookism story way back, however, they were re-introduced in the backstory arc as well. After the pre-generation fighters and circles took over, top fighters ruled over different regions. These were the Kings. That all ended when James Lee defeated them and shut it down to start the age of crews.

But in this chapter, we see how that era of Kings started breaking apart. Dalyoung Oh did not care about the other kings, he thought they were all weak. He wanted to be the only king in all of Korea.

To make that happen, he ordered Jinrang to fight every king from every region. If Jinrang lost, Dalyoung said he’d kill him himself.

So Jinrang goes from place to place, fighting them one by one. He first fights Seokdu Wang (King of Suwon), and then battles Taesoo Ma and Gongseop Ji. We don’t see the full fights, but it is obvious Jinrang barely survives, he is covered in blood and looks exhausted.

Lookism Chapter 550 ends with a much older Jinrang showing up to fight Seongji Yuk, who is the King of Cheonliang. Seongji was one of the strongest ones we have seen so far. He even went head-to-head with James Lee. On top of that, he is also one of the very few characters in Lookism who have awakened three thresholds.
