Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 Officially Announced

Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 is now officially confirmed! After weeks of speculation and leaks, the announcement came right after the final episode of Season 2 aired on March 30. The official website has released a new visual to announce the news, showing Sunraku sitting on a throne, looking cool, except, as usual, he is half-naked thanks to Lycaon’s curse.

Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 Will Fully Adapt Global Game Competition Arc

Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 ended on Chapter 126 and Season 3 will pick up right where it left off, adapting the rest of the Global Game Competition Arc. The arc properly starts from Chapter 127, starting the most awaited showdown between Star Rain and Nitro Squad. Since the GGC Arc is one of the longest in the series, Season 3 will likely focus on adapting it in full before moving on to the next arc, Abyss City Part 2 Arc.

Season 3 will now continue adapting the Global Games Competition Arc. Crunchyroll describes the plot of Shangri-La Frontier as:

When was the last time I played a game that wasn’t crap?” This is a world in the near future where games that use display screens are classified as retro. Anything that can’t keep up with state-of-the-art VR technology is called a “crap game,” and you see a large number of crap games coming out. Those who devote their lives to clearing these games are called “crap-game hunters,” and Rakuro Hizutome is one of them. The game he’s chosen to tackle next is Shangri-La Frontier, a “god-tier game” that has a total of thirty million players. Online friends… An expansive world… Encounters with rivals… These are changing Rakuro and all the other players’ fates! The best game adventure tale by the strongest “crap game” player begins now!
