MHA Vigilantes Episode 9 Preview: Koichi’s Mom Arrives and Fake Girlfriend Drama Begins

MHA Vigilantes Episode 9 will be released on June 2nd, 2025, at 11:30 pm JST, Monday, on Netflix and other streaming platforms. The previous episode introduced Captain Celebrity, a pro hero from the US, now working in Japan. His real name is Christopher Skyline, and while he looks like a big shot on the surface, it turns out he moved to Japan to escape scandals and lawsuits back in America. Despite being married, his womanizing behavior still continues, and his image takes another hit until Makoto Tsukauchi helps smooth things out a bit.

Captain Celebrity shows up in Naruhata and instantly makes things worse for Koichi. He saves him from a thief, but acts full of himself and even signs Koichi’s All Might hoodie without asking. Turns out, he moved to Japan after scandals in the US, and now he is just chasing attention here, too.

During an attack, Koichi jumps in first to save someone while Captain Celebrity waits for the cameras. He later takes credit after the media arrives. Then, in another scene, he offers to help Koichi rescue people, but only picks the woman to look good in photos. Makoto also gets dragged into his messy public image issues.

Later, we find out Koichi’s strict mom is coming to visit. panics since he told her he has a girlfriend. Pop gets awkward and runs off, and Koichi is left to deal with the mess on his own. First thing his mother asks after arriving and settling down is Where is his girlfriend.

Makoto Becomes Koichi’s Fake Girlfriend in MHA Vigilantes Episode 9

MHA Vigilantes Episode 9 will most likely continue right from where Episode 8 ended, with Koichi’s mom, Shouko, finally arriving and immediately asking the question Koichi was not ready for, Where is your girlfriend?

Koichi’s Fake Girlfriend Plan

Since Pop Step ran away, blushing after overhearing Koichi’s lie, he is left alone to handle the situation. So, he turns to Makoto Tsukauchi and asks her to pretend to be his girlfriend. From the official synopsis, we know that Shouko does not fall for it easily and sees right through him.

To make things a bit smoother, Makoto suggests they all go out sightseeing together in Asakusa. Koichi agrees, hoping it will help fix the situation, but things don’t go as planned.

While they are on a tour bus, it suddenly malfunctions and goes out of control. Pro hero Ingenium shows up with backup to rescue everyone on board, but Makoto ends up getting left behind. Koichi then jumps in to save her himself.

Koichi’s most frightening mother, Shouko, has arrived! Koichi tries to look good by asking Makoto to pretend to be his girlfriend, but Shouko easily sees through him. Makoto suggests sightseeing in Asakusa on behalf of Koichi, who keeps making blunders, but the tour bus the three of them are on suddenly goes out of control! Ingenium and the others rush to rescue them, but Makoto is left behind on the bus…
