Luke Braveheart Meets a Beautiful Lady in Zenshu Episode 3 Preview

Zenshu just dropped a preview for episode 3, and in it, Unio, Luke Braveheart’s partner, narrates that Luke is about to meet a beautiful lady in the upcoming episode.

The preview also shows Natsuko Hirose dressed up fancy at the end, and both Luke Braveheart and the lady he is supposed to meet are also dressed up. It looks like there is going to be a big event or party in the next episode.

Zenshu is MAPPA’s latest project, but it’s a bit different from their usual work. What makes this anime special is that it’s not based on any manga or light novel, it is a completely original story.

Because of that, there wasn’t much info about it before it aired. A lot of us thought it would be about an animator’s struggles, showing how overworked animators are to meet deadlines.

But nope, Zenshu is something completely different. It is an isekai anime! The main character, Natsuko Hirose, gets teleported into her all-time favorite movie, which was directed by her favorite filmmaker. Interestingly, that director also died the same way Natsuko did in the story.

In the latest episodes, we see that Natsuko is going to be stuck in the world of A Tale of Perishing for a while, trying to figure her way out.

What To Expect From Zenshu Episode 3

The preview shared by MAPPA doesn’t give away much about what is coming in the next episode. And since Zenshu is an original story, there’s no way to predict what is going to happen.

The title for Episode 3 has been revealed, though, it is called Destiny. In the preview, the new beautiful lady comes across an ant-shaped monster, kind of like the ones we saw in Episode 2, but this one looks way bigger.

So, it is likely that Luke Braveheart will step in to protect her from this giant creature. Moreover, as I have already mentioned, there will be some sort of big event as well in Zenshu Episode 3.

In the last episode, we also learned something interesting about Zenshu’s powers. She can only draw something once. If she draws something to fight or protect, she can’t use that same thing again.

For example, in Episode 1, she drew a giant golem that stopped the invasion, but she can’t draw that golem again. In Episode 2, she drew something else, and these tentacles came out of her drawing, launching missiles everywhere.

Crunchyroll called it Itano Circus, which is an animation style where a bunch of missiles fire at the same time.

We will probably see her draw something new in Episode 3 too, and it will be interesting to see what she comes up with this time.

Zenshu Episode 2 Recap

Zenshu Episode 2, titled Defending to the Death, starts off by giving us a little backstory about A Tale of Perishing and how the Nine Soldiers were created to protect the world from the Void.

The episode starts with Natsuko Hirose waking up after sleeping for 3 days straight, showing how much her creation magic (still unnamed) drains her energy.

When she wakes up, Luke shows up with some fruits and starts asking questions about who she really is and what this “real world” she keeps talking about is.

This episode also gives us more screen time with Natsuko’s face, which was mostly hidden in Episode 1 until the very end.

Natsuko decides to spill everything she knows about Luke to him to prove she is not lying and that she knows a lot about his world.

When Luke asks her about her powers, she brings out her magic stick and tries to summon the desk again, but it doesn’t work.

While trying, she trips and falls on Luke, and right at that moment, Unio shows up and attacks her. Natsuko then tells Unio she has a keychain of him back in her world, which, of course, Unio doesn’t understand.

Not long after, the Mayor sends an invitation that includes Natsuko too, so they all head over to meet him. Natsuko gets super excited when she meets the Mayor and ends up revealing the truth about her world.

She tells them this world is actually an anime movie, and she got here after eating expired seafood and dying (yep, that’s her backstory).

A new character named Baobab is introduced. He explains that if all the “All Soul Futures” disappear, the Giant Void will destroy the world. Baobab suggests Natsuko should join the Nine Soldiers, but Luke isn’t on board with that idea.

During this conversation, Natsuko drops another bomb, saying the Voids will fly down from the sky. Everyone, including the Mayor, Luke, and Unio, is shocked because they have never seen the Voids fly before.

After the meeting, Natsuko goes to the desert and prays to be sent back home, but nothing happens. Feeling upset, she later draws out what the flying Voids will look like and explains the whole situation to everyone.

That same day, the Voids do attack, and there are so many of them that survival seems impossible. Natsuko’s stick starts glowing again, but this time it is revealed that she can’t draw the same thing twice.

Mid-battle, she panics and doesn’t know what to draw. But at the last minute, she creates something, and tentacles come out, launching missiles (this is the Itano Circus move). She saves the day but collapses from exhaustion right after.

Is Zenshu Really Just Another Isekai?

For now, it seems like this is the story, but I feel like there’s a bigger picture here. The original rom-com movie project Hatsukoi: First Love is what got Natsuko all worked up. We see her at work, but her storyboards are empty, and the whole studio is panicking.

Even though she is a famous animator and director at such a young age, she can’t create the storyboards because she has never experienced first love herself.

That’s why I think this world, A Tale of Perishing, is going to be an eye-opener for her or at least help her feel something close to first love.

She will probably return to her world soon, but this experience will help her grow and give her the inspiration she needs to work on Hatsukoi: First Love. Maybe she won’t experience it directly but instead see it unfold in front of her.

In Episode 3, we see Luke Braveheart with this beautiful lady, so maybe that is where it is headed. She might witness Luke experiencing something like first love, and that could show her what it is really about.
