The second season of Kaiju No. 8 is coming out next year! During Jump Festa 2025, a teaser visual was revealed, and we got confirmation that Season 2 will air starting July 2025 on TV Tokyo and other networks.
The teaser highlights Captain Gen Narumi, the leader of the First Defense Force Unit, with the tagline: “Proof I’m the strongest.”
What Happened in Season 1?
The first season ended on June 29, 2024, with episode 12, covering the 3 Arcs and concluded on Kaiju Captured Arc, from chapters 1 to 38. It wrapped up with Kafka being arrested and taken to the Ariake Maritime Base.
Director Isao, who initially claimed he wanted to dispose of Kafka, actually had other plans. He fought Kafka with full force, but Kafka lost control during the fight and accidentally injured Isao. In the end, Kafka punched himself in the chest to regain control.
Instead of disposing of Kafka, Isao decided to keep him alive and use him as a weapon against other Kaiju. While the third division supported this decision, the rest of the Defense Force was against it.
The season ended with Kaiju No. 9 appearing and preparing for his next move. He aims to bring Kaiju No. 8 back to his side.
What’s Coming in Kaiju No 8 Season 2?
Season 2 will adapt the Kaiju Weapon Arc and the Compatible User Arc.
After being kept alive, Kafka is assigned to the First Division under Captain Gen Narumi to help fight Kaiju No. 9.
However, Narumi does not like Kafka at all. He wanted Kafka to be disposed of and turned into a weapon that he could control. Despite Narumi’s objections, Isao stood firm on his decision.
Kikoru Shinomiya also joins the First Division, where Narumi serves as captain. There will be a lot of tension between Narumi and Kafka in this arc, especially as they prepare for their fight against Kaiju No. 9.
Special Compilation Film
Before Season 2 starts, a compilation film recapping scenes from Season 1, along with a special episode titled Hoshina’s Day Off, will hit Japanese theaters for a three-week run starting March 28, 2025. New trailers for the compilation were also shared during Jump Festa 2025.
