Chainsaw Man 188 has been delayed and will not be returning next week. The ultimate showdown of Chainsaw Man Part 2 between Pochita and the Aging Devil has officially begun in the real world, while Denji and Yoru remain stuck in the Aging World.
Denji is still chowing down on the human tree to keep Pochita regenerating again and again, preventing him from staying down for good.
The fight, however, has hit a stalemate. The Aging Devil can not be killed by normal means, and as long as Denji has a steady supply of human trees in the Aging World, Pochita will keep coming back. However, Pochita has to kill the Aging Devil to escape and return to the real world.
Just like Denji’s last clever move to heal Pochita, he has come up with another plan to finally take down the Aging Devil.
The solution, revealed in Chainsaw Man Chapter 187, could be the key to breaking this never-ending fight and bringing the Asa/Yoru and Denji out of the Aging World for good.

Chainsaw Man 188 Release Date
Chainsaw Man 188 will be released on 31st December 2024 at 8:00 a.m. PT. While in Japan, the chapter will be available at 12 am JST on 1st January.
There is a slight chance that the chapter will be further delayed due to Christmas, but it has not been confirmed yet.

Denji’s New Plan: Pochita to Barf Out A Devil
Pochita vs. Aging Devil
The fight between Chainsaw Man and the Aging Devil gets even crazier. Pochita’s heart lies on the ground in front of the Aging Devil and the Public Safety members.
The devil commands the members to stomp on it, but before they can move, Denji regenerates Chainsaw Man’s body. Pochita wastes no time and shreds the Aging Devil into pieces, but it doesn’t work, The Aging Devil quickly regenerates.
Aging Devil’s Power is Too Strong
The Aging Devil uses his power to turn Pochita into a tree. Meanwhile, in the Aging World, Denji finishes munching down on a human tree and moves to the next one. This time, he is stopped by the Devil Hunter stuck with him.
The same person who explained how the Aging World works to Asa/Yoru earlier. The man tells Denji he has no right to eat these trees because they have existed for millennia, and they’re close to returning to the real world.
Denji couldn’t care less. He shrugs it off, knowing he is doing this to help Pochita fight the Aging Devil and well, he is hungry too, and to get out of this nightmare world alongside Asa.
Chainsaw Man Struggles to Win
Denji pulls his ripcord again to regenerate Pochita. Chainsaw Man makes another attempt to tear the Aging Devil apart, but again, it does not work.
Instead, the Aging Devil taunts him, suggesting that Chainsaw Man could just eat him and accept the offer since nothing else will stop him.
“The Barf” Plan
That is when Denji has a lightbulb moment “The Barf.” He remembers that Pochita has eaten a lot of devils in the past.
In fact, Denji had already barfed up two devils inside the Aging World, which helped him move on from his own struggles and despair. Now, he realizes this might be their ticket to winning.
Denji explains that his stomach feels like it’s about to explode because he just ate an entire human tree. This means Pochita could barf up a devil to help them fight the Aging Devil.
What Pochita Could Barf Up
Back in Chapter 104, Yoru (the War Devil) mentioned that part of her was eaten by Pochita during their fight.
So, Pochita has consumed part of the War Devil and the Nuclear Weapons Devil (among other devils). Both of these could be game-changers.
If Pochita were to throw up the Nuclear Weapons Devil, it could nuke the entire area. On the other hand, if he barfs up the part of the War Devil he consumed, it might restore Yoru’s strength, allowing her to destroy the Aging World from the inside.
This second option seems more likely because the last time Denji barfed up a devil, it appeared inside the Aging World and brought its concept back into the real world as well. Chainsaw Man 188 will showcase which devil Pochita will throw up!
Denji and Pochita seem to be banking on this move as their best chance to take down the Aging Devil once and for all.
