Blue Lock Chapter 299 will now be released on April 15, 2025, as the manga is taking a break next week. This delay is going to be heartbreaking for a lot of Nagi fans, especially after the latest chapter dropped one of the biggest shocks, Nagi did not make it into the top 23. Since only the top 23 players get selected for Japan’s U-20 World Cup team, Nagi, who ranked #24, is out unless someone drops out or gets injured.

This twist was a bit unexpected because Nagi is both a fan favorite and a character the author clearly loves. He even has a spin-off series, so it is very likely he will make a comeback somehow. The latest chapter also revealed the full top 23 rankings and specifically highlighted Nagi at #24 to show that he did not make the cut. On top of that, the flashback match between FC Barcha and Manshine City finally ended with Bachira scoring the final goal, making FC Barcha win 3-2.

Recap
In the previous chapter, Nagi decided he needs to stop relying on Reo to pass him and wanted to score on his own. But when the moment came, he hesitated. Just as he was about to take the shot, Otoya and two other defenders blocked him. Reo called out to him, and without thinking, Nagi passed the ball to him.

Before Reo could take it, Bachira intercepted and turned the game around, scoring the final goal. FC Barcha won 3-2, and then the rankings were revealed. Nagi dropped to #24, confirming he is officially out of Japan’s U-20 team. Even Isagi was shocked, as no one expected him to be disqualified.
Do you think Nagi will somehow manage to participate in the U-20 World Cup? Share your theories in the comments. The upcoming Blue Lock Chapter 299 will most likely start Phase 3 of Blue Lock!
