While the main focus of Blue Box has always been Chinatsu and Taiki, a lot of fans are just as interested in Kyo and Ayame.
Their plot in Blue Box has been slow and complicated, full of moments where things could have happened but did not.
Now that Ayame is single, some people are wondering if something might finally change.
Why Kyo and Ayame Never Got Close in Blue Box?
Kyo and Ayame have always shared a different kind of bond. The feelings were always there, but the timing never worked.
One major turning point came during the Second Year Cultural Festival Arc. Kyo collapsed from exhaustion and fever while working on decor.
Ayame took him to the nurse and went out to get water bottles. While he was unconscious, Kyo dreamed that he confessed to her and she said yes.
But in reality, Ayame saw Saki with Kyo. Saki was leaning over Kyo in what looked like an intimate moment.
She thought they were together and misunderstood the whole thing. Instead of asking or waiting, she said yes to a confession from another boy, Shota.
Kyo woke up to find out that Ayame had accepted Shota. He missed his chance again, just like he did with Saki.
Ayame And Shota’s Breakup During the Kyoto Trip
Ayame’s time with Shota always felt like a safer option. He liked her and never judged her. But there was no real connection between them
During the Kyoto trip in Blue Box Chapter 203, she and Shota broke up. She said they were like puzzle pieces from two different boxes.
Nothing really went wrong, but they were not right for each other either. Kyo heard about the breakup and felt happy. That showed his feelings for Ayame never really went away.
What Is Still Holding Kyo and Ayame Back?
Now that they are both single, it seems like they should finally get together. But the real issue was never other people. The real problem lies within them.
Kyo thinks he is just a normal guy with nothing special to offer and that Ayame is nice with everyone, as he once explained in Chapter 166. He always puts others first and avoids being selfish. He is also afraid of being rejected or getting hurt.
In an internal monologue in the manga, Kyo admitted that he likes Ayame. He thought about confessing when she took him to the nurse’s office. But he kept his feelings hidden and said nothing to her directly.
Ayame avoids difficult feelings. When she thought Kyo liked Saki, she pulled away instead of asking him the truth.
That is why she chose Shota, even though she did not feel strongly for him. It was the easier option
Will Ayame and Kyo Ever Get Together?
I think it is in the developing stage. The plot is not rushing their romance, but it feels like something is building up.
If either of them can take the first real step and say how they feel, this could move forward.
But it needs to be done properly. If the manga forces their relationship without proper development, it will not feel natural.
