Okarun has been finding a way to train himself in case the Evil Eye shows up again. Turbo Granny takes him to school at night to train, and Aira ends up joining as well.
When the piano is played at two in the morning, strange figures appear and attack. These figures are later revealed to be Tulpas, and the fight becomes a lesson for Okarun to improve his rhythm in battle in Dandadan Season 2 Episode 8.
What Are the Tulpas in Dandadan Season 2 Episode 8?
At the end of Dandadan Season 2 Episode 8, Turbo Granny explains that the strange musicians are called Tulpas.
They are supernatural beings created from fear. In this case, they came out of the portraits of famous composers in the music room.
They only appear when the piano is played at two in the morning, which Turbo Granny used to train Okarun.
What are the abilities of Tulpas?
The Tulpas use different music based powers during the fight. They send explosive notes that blow up on impact. They also use rest notes that freeze the opponent in place.

They can create illusions, changing the battlefield into places like a paddy field or an opera house.
Inside the opera house illusion, they also summon giants and a chorus army to overwhelm their opponents.
How Okarun Won Against Tulpas?
Okarun struggled in the beginning. Aira was dodging the attacks easily while he kept falling behind.
Turbo Granny then explained that fighting is not only about speed or strength. It is about how many actions a person can perform in one beat.
Okarun could only manage two, Aira could do four, and the Evil Eye could go as high as ten.
When Okarun remembered the heavy rhythm of the Hayashi performers’ music, he finally started to fight in rhythm.
This helped him dodge attacks better and keep up with Aira. In the end, he reached five actions in one beat, the same as Turbo Granny.
He created afterimages and landed headbutts on all five Tulpas at once, breaking the illusion and defeating them.
