The Simurians Homeworld Revealed in JJK Modulo Chapter 8
JJK Modulo Chapter 8 titled “The Three Heavenly Cursed Gods” begins with a flashback of the Simurians past, before they arrived on Earth.
We see a younger Cross and Maru living in a desert land, struggling to survive. One day, they get caught stealing by an older Simurian named Doura.
Instead of punishing them, Doura offers them food and makes them help him with his work, building a giant canal that could change the future of their people.
Cross is angry from the start and questions why they should help their enemies, the Deskunte tribe.
However, Doura explains that his plan is not just about building a canal. He believes that if the Lumer and Deskunte tribes work together, they can finally end years of fighting and start a new era of peace.
Doura’s Hope for Peace
Doura tells them about the past between the two tribes, the Lumer and the Deskunte.
A creature called the Karyan caused great destruction, which led to hatred between the two sides. The Lumer were driven out of their home and forced to live in a desert.
Doura believes that building the canal will give them a shared purpose and rebuild trust. Maru begins to understand his dream, but Cross still refuses to believe in peace. He sees it as useless and thinks that Doura’s efforts will fail.
The Sabotage and Cross’s Change
As the canal project continues, a few members of their own tribe destroy a part of the canal during the night. They do not want peace with the Deskunte. When Doura and Maru find the damage, they lose hope, but Cross returns.
Seeing what happened, he realizes that Doura was right and that fighting will never solve anything.
Cross decides to help rebuild the canal, and others follow his lead. Slowly, everyone starts working together again, and the project gains approval from the elders. And it actually feels like peace might finally be possible.
Cross's words make it all make sense.. From the start Dabura has had an expression like humanity took everything from him. Friends, family, clan, etc…#JujutsuKaisenModulo #Modulo #JJK pic.twitter.com/Qt2kohMKOw

The Tragedy That Ended Everything
But the happiness does not last long, as well know in Jujutsu Kaisen verse. On the very day that the project gets its final approval and everyone is celebrating. The story cuts to a horrific final panel.
The Karyan, the creature that started the conflict, attacks and eats the daughter of the Deskunte’s leader.
I guess this event destroyed all hope of peace. The two tribes turn against each other again, and the Simurians are forced to escape their home.

And this is why Cross’ personality completely changed. JJK Modulo Chapter 8 concluded with a editor’s note:
A shocking tragedy strikes the revival of the canal project!
