Yoru’s Goal Since the Start

Since her introduction, Yoru has had one clear goal to defeat Chainsaw Man take his powers, and become the strongest devil.

And later too defeat the Death Devil and stop the Prophecy of Nostradamus, which predicts humanity’s extinction when the Death Devil arrives.

But she was not the only one with plans for Chainsaw Man. Public Safety had their own agenda. They wanted to use Denji’s powers to erase the concept of aging, evolving humanity so they could stand a chance against the Death Devil.

The Only Way to Survive

Denji however made a deal with the Aging Devil, throwing Public Safety’s plan out the window. Now, the only way for humanity to survive is if Yoru takes Denji’s powers, making her strong enough to take on the Death Devil.

Back in Chapter 191, Yoru finally revealed her true identity to Denji, confirming she lives inside Asa. Yoshida also made it pretty clear, that even if Chainsaw Man and War Devil fought together, they still would not stand a chance against the Death Devil. That means War Devil must take Chainsaw Man’s powers if there is any hope of winning.

As fans, we have all been wondering, if Yoru already defeated Chainsaw Man, why hasn’t she taken his powers yet? And why does she keep trying to cheer Denji up by kissing him or making out with him?

Well, Chainsaw Man Chapter 193 finally gave us the answer, something many fans had already known. Back in Chapter 168, Yoru revealed in a moment of heat, that her other half likes Denji, and her feelings have flown into her but it was vague confession.

Yoru Likes Denji’s Pitiful Expression

Chainsaw Man Chapter 193 picks up where the last one left off, with Yoru sitting on Denji’s lap, messing with him. She calls him “poor” since he lost his family and is completely ruled by his desires.

Denji’s Pattern With Women

At this point, fans just want Denji to say no to a girl for once. His whole life has been a mess because of Makima, the Control Devil, who used him by giving him an ultimatum, kill the Gun Devil, and she’d grant him any wish. That led him into a trap where she built him up just to completely destroy him.

Now, something similar is happening. But unlike Makima, Yoru is not hiding her intentions. She is straight-up about it. She tells Denji how pitiful he looks, knowing he’d do anything for a little kindness.

Back in the Aging World arc, Denji actually rejected Yoru’s advances. He even stopped her from kissing him, and fans thought, “Oh wow, character development!”.

But turns out, he was not being strong, he was just too miserable to care back then. Asa had to come out and emotionally connect with him to bring him back.

Now Denji is back to his old ways, giving in to his desires again. He even asks Yoru to wiggle on his lap. However, she declines his request, saying he looks even more pathetic when he does not get what he wants.

Yoru’s Confession

Denji asks if she hates him. And for the first time, she actually gives a clear answer. She says that Asa likes him, and since they share the same body and brain, she does too.

Denji starts crying. He is just happy someone still likes him. Yoru, seeing him like this, kisses him again to make him feel better.

Denji Gets Another Ultimatum But This Time It’s Different

Denji finds himself in a familiar situation, getting an offer he can not refuse. Yoru offers Denji a deal. If Denji manages to defeat the Death Devil, she will sleep with him. But if he fails, she will turn him into a weapon and use him to fight Death Devil herself.

If this feels like deja vu, that is because it is. Makima did the same thing back in Part 1, offering something Denji wanted in front of him while having her own agenda.

But Yoru is not playing mind games like Makima did. Sure, she still wants to use Denji, but Asa’s feelings seem to be affecting her more than she realizes. Instead of just manipulating Denji, she is actually giving him a real chance.

Does Denji Really Have a Choice?

Denji has never been good at saying no to women, and this time is no different. He has been through too much and is desperate for someone to actually care about him.

Yoru might not be as twisted as Makima, but she is still putting him in a tough spot. Either way, Denji’s fate is now tied to the Death Devil, one way or another.

Final Words

Chainsaw Man Chapter 193 feels like Part 1 all over again. Denji is once again being used by a woman, given an ultimatum, and stuck in a cycle where he can’t say no.

But this time, Yoru’s feelings for him make things a little different. Whether that changes anything in the long run is still a big question.

Overall, the chapter is a good build-up and sets up a goal for Denji moving forward even though I expected his goal is going to be to look for Blood Devil.
