Blue Lock Chapter 317, titled I Have Got This on Lock, shows Nigeria’s desperate attack and also reveals how Gagamaru trained to become Japan’s best goalkeeper. The first half finally ends with Japan still in control.

Nigeria’s Captain Kuso and His Tactical Reading in Blue Lock Chapter 317

Blue Lock Chapter 317 starts with Nigeria restarting the game. There are only ten minutes left in the first half and captain Kuso starts breaking down Japan’s U-20 World Cup Team system.

He notices that Blue Lock is built on a strong center line with Oliver Aiku, Tabito Karasu, and Yoichi Isagi. These three players control the shape of the match and are the highest IQ players on the field.

On top of this, the team is filled with unique attackers and defenders. Chigiri’s speed and Bachira’s dribbling as the two spears.

Rin, Reo, and Hiori play as unpredictable attackers who can change the game in different ways. Niko and Aryuu handle the defense.

But Kuso points out that the real leader is Isagi. He says that Japan cannot be stopped unless Isagi is crushed because he is the one holding everything together.

Onazi’s Past and His Goal

The focus then shifts to Onazi. We see his past again, just like we did in Blue Lock Chapter 316, where he grew up in an orphanage. His dream was to win the World Cup together with his friends.

In the present, Onazi attacks again with a new resolve. He uses his body and flexibility to launch into the air.

He says that the reason he is a striker is because he can shoot in mid air which gives him more ways to score. He then goes for a powerful volley aiming to finally break Japan’s defense.

Gagamaru’s Special Training

At this moment, the Blue Lock Chapter 317 changes focus to Gagamaru, the goalkeeper of Japan.

We see how Ego trained him. Ego tells him that to be a real goalkeeper, he needs a goalkeeper’s body.

The training was, Gagamaru is put in front of a pitching machine that fires baseballs at him at very high speeds.

Since baseballs are smaller and faster than soccer balls, this training makes his reflexes super sharp. Ego wanted him to stop overthinking and let his body react on its own.

Japan’s Guardian Deity

Back to the present, Onazi’s shot flies toward the goal. But to Gagamaru, it looks slower than the baseballs he trained with.

He reacts instantly and makes a huge leap. In a full-page moment, he catches the ball with one hand and ends up destroying Nigeria’s biggest chance.

The referee then blows the whistle, and the first half ends with Japan leading Nigeria 2-0. Gagamaru says the words:

I have got this on lock.

Gagamaru
