Nagi Gets an Offer from Buratsuta in Blue Lock Chapter 308
Back in Blue Lock Chapter 306, Nagi camped outside the Blue Lock facility, desperate to get back inside, until he was approached by Buratsuta, the Japan Football Union chairman. In the latest Blue Lock Chapter 308, he offers Nagi a way back into the U-20 national team through a hidden path: the “Buratsuta 3”.
Technically, U-20 squads can have up to 26 players. Ego picks 23, but Buratsuta has control over 3 wildcard spots. He promises Nagi one of those, but under 3 conditions:
- Win the new selection test, Buratsuta planned himself
- Hand over all future football career rights and contracts to him
- Use this opportunity to prove that Ego’s methods are wrong
Buratsuta basically wants to use Nagi to take back control of Blue Lock, and this shows how politics are starting to affect Ego’s project. The Neo Egoist League tournament Ego came up with allowed him to select 23 players. Till now, it was shown total of 23 players will participate in the U-20 World Cup per team.

Nagi Refuses, Shows Loyalty to Ego
Surprisingly, Nagi refuses. He remembers how Ego gave him and Reo a reason to love football. Despite being eliminated, Nagi still respects Ego’s philosophy and refuses to betray Blue Lock.
Buratsuta insults him, calling him washed-up and prideful, and tries to push Nagi further. Even though he wants to play again, he won’t do it by turning on Ego. While in this chapter it seemed like Nagi declined the offer, but Nagi is still desperate and maybe we will see him take the offer eventually.

Sae Itoshi Returns and Rejects Group Stage
Just as Buratsuta gives up on Nagi, the story switches to Sae Itoshi. We see a short phone call between Sae and Buratsuta. The U-20 World Cup groups are revealed, and Japan’s in the same group as France.
Buratsuta is visibly panicking because this means one of the toughest opponents is in their group, and advancing past group stage will be hard. He tries to lock in Sae as part of the Buratsuta 3, but Sae says he is not playing in the group stage.
Sae only joined to play against Spain. He wants to fight his rival Bunny Iglesias, who was introduced in Blue Lock Chapter 307.
If Japan can’t rise to the top without me… then this whole story’s meaningless
Sae Itoshi
At the end of this chapter, Sae Itoshi claims he will use Blue Lock as the stepping stone for the dream he wants to achieve.

Blue Lock Chapter 308 Review
This chapter did not focus much on action or any training assigned by Ego to the 23 selected players, but it delivered a lot in terms of narrative buildup. The politics behind the national team selection is being explored properly now. Nagi rejecting a shortcut adds weight to his growth. Sae’s return was brief, showing he has a personal goal only he understands and a grudge against the newly introduced Bunny Iglesias.
It looks like Chapter 309 will either focus back on Isagi in Spain or show us Buratsuta’s selection test plan. Blue Lock Chapter 309 will be released on 1st July, 2025.
