Netflix is continuing its focus on Korean webtoon adaptations after the success of shows like All of Us Are Dead, Sweet Home, Hellbound, and even Weak Hero Class 1. And now, Solo Leveling is confirmed to be getting a live-action series.
On the 10th July, Netflix announced that a live-action version is officially in the works, with actor Byeon Woo-seok playing the main role of Sung Jin-woo.
Netflix Confirms Solo Leveling Live-Action Series
Solo Leveling will now join Netflix’s growing list of Korean adaptations. This live-action project will be based on the original webtoon and novel, not the anime, and it is being handled by Korean production teams. Byeon Woo-seok, known for his roles in Lovely Runner and 20th Century Girl, has been cast as Jin-woo.

Solo Leveling Season 2 Ends with High Numbers
Solo Leveling Season 2 concluded back in March 2025 with a strong reception. The anime adapted seven arcs in total and ended with the Jeju Island arc. While some parts were a bit rushed to fit the arc’s pacing, everyone still appreciated the direction and animation.
Season 2 Episode 12 broke records on Crunchyroll with over 500,000 likes, and the series now has over 800,000 total ratings. It also won awards at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year and Best Action. Right now, there is no official announcement for Solo Leveling Season 3, but based on how Season 2 ended, production might already be ongoing.
The live-action series is being directed by Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo. Their previous work includes Castaway on the Moon, Cold Eyes, and Ashfall. The project is backed by Kakao Entertainment and SANAI Pictures.
Netflix also confirmed a dedicated VFX team will be working on the dungeon scenes, monsters, and action effects. They are aiming to make it visually close to the anime’s fights and emotional progression.
The original web novel started on KakaoPage and was later turned into a webtoon, anime, and even a mobile game. Solo Leveling has now crossed over 14.3 billion views globally across all versions. Tapas describes the story as:
