In Blue Lock Chapter 302, Nagi’s struggles are highlighted according to the alleged spoilers after he returns home, having failed to make the cut for the next phase. The second phase of Blue Lock is over, and the top 23 players have been chosen for the U-20 Japan World Cup team, which will be competing in less than 50 days in the Blue Lock universe.

Nagi was one of the most talented players in Blue Lock, but his passion for soccer was not as strong as the others. Reo had pushed him to join Blue Lock, and despite his lack of interest, he joined the program for Reo. Nagi showed incredible growth. He made it into the top 6 during the third selection and even scored the first goal against the previous U-20 Japan team. By round 2 of the Neo Egoist League, Nagi was ranked #2 out of the 36 remaining players. But things changed after he defeated Isagi, where he became satisfied with his performance and lost the drive to improve. His descent continued as he did not perform well in his final match against FC Barcha and ended up ranked 24th, falling short of making it to the next phase. In his heart, he regretted becoming complacent and failing to grow, despite telling Reo that he had no regrets.
Now, while the other 23 players move on to phase 3, Nagi returns home, seeing his cactus still the same as it was before. In that moment, he realizes that, just like his cactus, he did not change at all. He returned to his ordinary life, stuck in the same boring place he was before joining Blue Lock.

Nagi Goes Back To School in Blue Lock Chapter 302
Blue Lock Chapter 302 opens up with Nagi waking up to the sound of his alarm. The first thing he does is greet his cactus, Choki, before heading to Hakuho High School, where it all began. This is where Nagi first met Reo and was introduced to soccer, leading him to join Blue Lock.
Now, after the Neo Egoist League was broadcast worldwide on BLTV, Nagi has become popular at his school. His classmates ask him about his Blue Lock experience and whether he plans to take the professional offer, which is still on the table despite him being eliminated from Blue Lock. He could earn 24,000,000 yen if he takes it, so his football career is not entirely over unless he decides to quit completely.
One of his female classmates brings up Reo Mikage, and this gets to Nagi emotionally. He says he is done with soccer and has no plans to go back to it. The rest of the chapter shows Nagi slacking off in class, losing interest in his studies, and even falling asleep during lectures. It is obvious he does not want to be in this ordinary life, but feels forced to return to it.
On his way home after school, he sees a massive Blue Lock billboard featuring Rin, Isagi, and Shidou, which brings back all his emotions. He mutters to himself, “Just forget it” trying to push everything away.

But then, another day, he sees some kids playing soccer. This reignites his feelings for the sport. He begins to question himself, if he does not care about soccer anymore, why does it hurt so much? This thought spirals him into regret. He wonders why he could not perform better or improve, and feels like it is too late now. Overcome with emotion, he breaks down and cries, realizing that, even though he wants to go back, he can’t.
