Just when things between Chinatsu and Taiki were getting better, her grandfather fell and now he has surgery in a month. Chinatsu has to leave Inomata’s house for a month to stay with her mom.
The Cultural Festival Arc has started in the latest episode of Blue Box. Taiki’s class is doing Snow White and the Seven Dwarves for the festival, and Hina Chono is playing the main role.
Things are already kinda weird between Taiki and Hina since she confessed her feelings to him. And now, she keeps teasing him whenever she gets the chance.
Since Taiki is the class rep, he is stuck doing random tasks for the play while also trying to keep up with his badminton practice.
In Blue Box Episode 17, the coach will announce there is an upcoming match against Sajikawa Senior High. Yusa will have a practice match against Taiki before going against Haryu Senpai.
Yusa already beat Taiki in the singles qualifiers before. Taiki lost both singles and doubles, missing his shot at the inter-high competition this year. Since then, he has been doubting himself, not realizing how much he has actually improved.

What To Expect From Blue Box Episode 17
Hina told Chinatsu that she confessed to Taiki. In Blue Box Episode 17, she will explain why she brought it up, since they were living together, she thought Chinatsu should know. But Chinatsu will tell her they are actually not living together right now because her mom is back in Japan.

This episode is mostly gonna be about Taiki dealing with his own doubts. Their school has a practice match coming up against Sajikawa Senior High, the same team that beat both Haryu and Taiki in the qualifiers. Even without Shota Hyodo, they’re still tough opponents.

The coach makes things even worse by saying if they can’t beat Sajikawa now, they should forget about going to nationals next year too. That just adds to the pressure Taiki is already feeling.
On top of that, both Chinatsu and Hina say they’ll be watching his match. Taiki already doesn’t think he can win against Yusa, and now with them watching, it’s even harder for him to focus. Blue Box Episode 17 will adapt chapters 52-55, but the match won’t finish in this episode.
Do you think Taiki has a chance this time? He has been practicing a lot since losing to Yusa in the qualifiers, and he has set on making it to nationals next year. Let’s see if all that training pays off.
Blue Box Episode 16 Recap: Chinatsu Moves Out of Inomata House
Blue Box Episode 16 starts with Taiki and Chinatsu getting ready for school. Things between them have gotten a lot better after all the misunderstandings with Hina at the festival. Taiki celebrating Chinatsu’s birthday near the beach really helped cheer her up after her loss at nationals.

I love Chinatsu and Taiki so much, and getting Chinatsu to be kinder to her 17 year old self and be more open to Taiki is great character development. The beach scene was absolutely adorable and truly bright#bluebox pic.twitter.com/DCzepMJc8I
Cultural Festival & New Responsibilities
Once Taiki gets to school, the cultural festival is announced. Hina tells him their class is doing Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, and she’s playing the main role.
Even though Taiki’s not part of the play, Hina still wishes him luck since he’s the class rep. This means he now has even more work, handling random tasks for the play while keeping up with his badminton training.
Meanwhile, Kyo tells Hina he knows about her confession to Taiki. He is worried since Taiki is completely into Chinatsu, but Hina brushes it off, saying it does not matter.
Taiki is then sent to deliver a participant list to the second-year rep, Sasaki Senpai. But when he enters the classroom, only Chinatsu is there.
He hands her the list and casually compliments her seat by the window. Then they both imagine what it’d be like if they were in the same class and the same age.

Chinatsu Moves Out & Taiki Feels the Distance
Taiki wonders if they would have interacted much if they hadn’t been living together, probably not. And just like that, his nightmare becomes real.
After practice, Taiki comes home and sees Chinatsu’s mother sitting next to his mother. She’s back in Japan because Chinatsu’s grandfather has surgery coming up, so Chinatsu will be living with her in an apartment for now.
Taiki helps them pack and move. Before leaving, Chinatsu and Taiki promise to see each other at morning practice. But the next day, when Taiki shows up, she’s not there. Haryu then takes him on a morning run.
The whole day feels off for Taiki since he didn’t get to see Chinatsu, and now he has to go through this for a whole month.
But when he gets home, he sees her there, she forgot some things and came to pick them up. She mentions she didn’t see him at practice.
Turns out she took the wrong train and was late, and by the time she arrived, Taiki had already left with Haryu.

Hina’s Confession
Chinatsu also tells him that her class is doing a maid café for the cultural festival. Taiki immediately starts imagining her in a maid outfit, but nope, turns out she is just helping, not actually participating.
Later that day, Kyo tells Hina that he once had a crush on someone, but she ended up getting a boyfriend. He doesn’t say who it was.
At the end of Blue Box Episode 16, Hina suddenly tells Chinatsu that she confessed to Taiki, even though Chinatsu already knew. And that is where the episode wraps up.

Will Chinatsu Move Back to Taiki’s House?
Yes, Chinatsu will move back to Taiki’s house after her grandfather’s surgery is done. But for now, she will stay with her mom throughout the cultural festival arc.
She will return in the Autumn Training Camp Arc, which will probably start after two more episodes, meaning in Blue Box Episode 19.
