Recap
Momo and Okarun are still trapped underground, and the Mongolian Death Worm’s psychic waves are messing with their heads. It makes them feel like ending their own lives. Jiji is the only one not affected, and now we get why. He remembers stopping his parents from doing the same thing years ago. That is when he realizes they were under the same curse, not by choice.

Just as the worm corners Jiji, the Evil Eye shows up. Turbo Granny explains that the Evil Eye’s curse is canceling out the worm’s waves, which brings Momo and Okarun back to their senses. Okarun tries to fight using his yokai form, and manages to cut the head off, but the worm has instant regeneration ability.
The Evil Eye shows Jiji a vision of the past to manipulate him. He was once a child sacrificed to the same worm, and over time, he saw many more victims. That turned him into a vengeful spirit. Jiji feels bad for him and becomes the vessel for the Evil Eye.

Once possessed, the Evil Eye starts fighting the worm and reveals that it is going to kill all humans as well. Evil Eye then starts beating both the worm and Momo as well. Evil Eye then manages to drive away the worm and starts attacking Momo again. It was about to kill Momo, but Okarun arrived just in time and saved her. The episode ended on a huge cliffhanger with Okarun and Evil Eye clashing.

Dandadan Season 2 Episode 2 Review
DanDaDan Season 2 Episode 2 raises the animation level again while keeping the pacing really good. Most of the episode takes place inside the monster’s underground lair, and visually it looks even better than Season 2 Episode 1.
The Evil Eye’s character design in this episode is beyond perfect. His frame shape, movement style, and energy effects looked completely different from everything else in the show. The color grading changed right after he possessed Jiji, with darker shadows and a purple glow to separate the Evil Eye’s aura from the rest.

The eyes were animated with a frame glow effect, and the purple curse aura was done with textured blending rather than just flat color fills. The fight between the Evil Eye and the Mongolian Death Worm was really short but fast and clean.
The motion was steady and did not rely on heavy cuts. Instead, the animators used camera shakes and wide keyframes to highlight impact, since Evil Eye mostly fought with the energy ball it created.
Momo vs Evil Eye Fight Sequence
What stood out the most in this episode was Momo trying to defend against the Evil Eye’s attacks. He suddenly kicks at her after taking over Jiji’s body, and she reacts fast with a psychic barrier after getting hit. The contact timing is handled really well. Right before the hit lands, there is a slight freeze in Momo’s eyes to show hesitation, but she still manages to hold the shield.

This entire cut stayed clean with no skipped frames or forced blur. The barrier does not shatter. He also pins her against the wall for a few seconds and then walks away slowly before shifting focus to the worm again.
Later, when he uses the grudge ball again, Momo defends using her barrier once more, but this time it was a trap. He instantly changes direction and punches her from the side, sending her flying across the room. The speed change here is fast but not jarring, and the punch is framed well with steady spacing.

Okarun vs Evil Eye in Dandadan Season 2 Episode 2
Okarun’s return scene is the best cut of Dandadan Season 2 Episode 2. As Evil Eye prepares to end Momo with another grudge ball kick, we see the ball through Momo’s eyes, showing that she knows she is done for. Okarun arrives mid-air and stops it using his own leg. Both their legs hit with the cursed ball stuck between them. The clash is framed tightly with zero shaky cam or blur.

The contrast in this final moment shifts completely. Most of the background fades out, and only the purple energy and highlights remain. The lighting is used properly here. The glow does not overpower the character models, and you can clearly see Okarun’s angry expression before he says his line:
You bastard, you punched Momo-Chan. You are not getting away with that.
Okarun, Yokai Form!
The way the legs hold against each other, with no recoil or fall-off, shows how focused this scene was. This is probably the best animated clash we have seen in DanDaDan so far, even better than the fight between Kito Family and Momo in Season 2 Episode 1.
Dandadan Season 2 Episode 2 keeps the flow tight with the right balance of action and emotion. Evil Eye’s appearance, Momo’s defense, and Okarun’s return are all handled smoothly without throwing off the pacing. The episode did not drop in animation quality anywhere.
