The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity anime is getting the same Netflix treatment that Blue Box and Sakamoto Days got. This means the streaming platform will release episodes in Japan one week before other countries get them.

Netflix has global streaming rights for all three shows. The company follows this pattern, where Japanese viewers get new episodes seven days earlier than everyone else. This creates the same problems we saw with Blue Box recently.

Netflix Week Delay Creates Piracy Issues

The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity anime is one of the most awaited titles for summer 2025. But the delayed release outside Japan creates problems for fans. When episodes air in Japan first, fans in other countries don’t want to wait. They go to piracy sites to watch raw episodes or fan-translated versions instead.

This hurts Netflix’s official viewing numbers. People who pay for Netflix subscriptions end up watching shows elsewhere because they don’t want to wait an extra week. The delay makes no sense for paying customers.

Blue Box had this exact problem. Even though the show got renewed for season two the Netflix delay frustrated fans, including me alot. When episodes are available on piracy sites, why would anyone wait for the official release?

How Previous Shows Performed With This Release Strategy

Blue Box stayed in Netflix Japan’s top 10 rankings for just two weeks. After that it disappeared completely from the rankings. The show was actually popular but most people watched it on piracy sites instead of Netflix. This made the official numbers look bad.

Sakamoto Days did better with the same release schedule. It stayed in Netflix’s global top 10 for non-English shows for 10 weeks on Tudum. This happened because the manga has a huge fan base that helped it perform well despite the delay issues.

The difference shows that manga popularity can help overcome Netflix’s release problems, but it still affects viewership patterns.

Netflix Released “The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity” Trailer And Announced the Release Date

Netflix released the official trailer for The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity along with the Japanese release date and new visual. The manga by Saka Mikami has sold over 5 million copies as of June 2025. There are currently 152 chapters available across 17 volumes.

CloverWorks announced the anime adaptation less than a year ago. The studio has experience with similar shows like Spy X Family, Horimiya, My Dress Up Darling and Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. Since these anime share slightly similar themes with The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity the studio knows how to handle this type of content.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity will release on July 6 in Japan through Netflix. Other regions will be able to watch it on July 13.

The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity has strong production and a popular source material. CloverWorks has proven they can handle romance anime well. The voice cast includes experienced actors who should bring the characters to life properly.

But the Netflix release schedule will likely create the same issues we saw before. Fans outside Japan will have to wait a week longer than Japanese viewers.

Netflix subscribers pay for the service but still get delayed access. This doesn’t make sense from a customer service perspective. The company needs to consider changing this release pattern if they want to keep viewers on their platform instead of losing them to illegal sites.

The manga’s popularity might help the anime perform well despite these issues. But the one week delay will definitely affect how and where people choose to watch the show. Netflix describes the story of the anime as:

Chidori student Rintaro Tsumugi finds himself feeling comfortable around a girl named Kaoruko who treats his intimidating appearance without prejudice… until he discovers that she comes from Kikyo — a school which loathes his.
