Solo Leveling Episode 18, titled “Don’t Look Down On My Guys” is dropping on February 8. The Hunters Guild Gate Arc is still ongoing and the latest episode teased the dungeon boss, Kargalgan, a powerful shaman.
Kargalgan will be voiced by Kenta Miyake, the same voice actor behind All Might (My Hero Academia) and Kaiju No. 10 (Kaiju No. 8).
Kargalgan is the toughest opponent Jinwoo has faced since his awakening, even stronger than Baruka from the Red Gate Dungeon.
But Jinwoo has been leveling up. After taking down Vulcan and Metus, his strength has grown, and even his shadow soldiers have gotten stronger too.
Jinwoo joined the dungeon raid with Squad B from the Hunters Guild as a porter. He needed a cover to sell a high-tier item without anyone getting suspicious, all because he plans to buy a strong weapon to tackle the Demon Castle Dungeon.
His goal is still the same, clear the Demon Castle Dungeon and get the last material to make the Holy Water of Life so he can heal his mom.
Who is Kargalgan in Solo Leveling?
Kargalgan is a powerful magic user with an army of High Orcs, each one strong enough to wipe out B-Rank Hunters and even challenge A-Ranks. The dungeon turned out to be a high-tier A-Rank, with the boss of almost S-Rank level.
Kargalgan used his powers to force all the squad members in front of him. The squad had a plan though, they knew they probably would not make it out alive, but their priority was to protect the people outside.
Their plan was to keep the boss distracted while Jinwoo ran to call for help. Since he is still officially an E-Rank, they had no idea they were actually bringing an S-Rank Hunter with them.
Solo Leveling Episode 18 Release Date
According to the release schedule on Crunchyroll, Solo Leveling Episode 18 will be released on Sunday, 9th February, at 12:00 AM JST.

Kargalgan vs Sung Jinwoo in Solo Leveling Episode 18
Even though Kargalgan is a really strong boss, he is a really bad matchup against Sung Jinwoo. Since Kargalgan is a shaman most of his attacks are curse-based, but Jinwoo has an immunity buff that cancels out any curse thrown at him.
As soon as Squad B and Jinwoo enter the dungeon, Ki-Hoon gives the order to attack. But things go south real quick.
Kargalgan’s magic is too strong, he completely stops the squad from moving and starts messing with Ki-Hoon using gravitational acceleration, lifting him up and throwing him around like a ragdoll.
Jinwoo realizes there is no way Squad B will make it out alive unless he steps in. Since this is the Hunters Guild’s dungeon, he did not want to interfere and steal the spotlight, but there is no other choice. Ki-Hoon notices Jinwoo is holding back and straight-up begs him to help.
Jinwoo summons his soldiers, Iron and Igris easily take down the High Orcs, but the rest of his shadows struggle.
He knows he has to end this fast because if his soldiers keep dying and respawning, his mana will drain too quickly.
Luckily, this dungeon is not created by the system, so he can still use his inventory, giving him an advantage. Kargalgan tries throwing curses at Jinwoo, but none of them work, his immunity buff nullifies them all.
Solo Leveling Episode 18 will cover manhwa chapters 72 to 75, wrapping up the Hunters Guild Gate Arc.
Solo Leveling Episode 17 Recap
Solo Leveling Episode 17 picks up right where the last one left off, Cha Hae-In catches Jinwoo sneaking around the A-Rank Dungeon boss.
Jinwoo had this weird urge to mess with the boss. He could not kill it, though, because that would close the dungeon, and the Hunters Guild would not be able to mine its rewards. So, he figured he’d just scratch it a little.
But then Cha Hae-In found him. She started questioning him, and for some reason, Jinwoo’s scent caught her attention.
She could not stop thinking about it, so she started digging into his background. The next day, Jinwoo returns for the mining gig.
Meanwhile, Squad B is about to enter the A-Rank Dungeon, and they ask if anyone wants to be their porter.
Jinwoo volunteers. The dungeon was supposed to be low-tier, but as soon as they step inside, dungeon jackals attack. Then, out of nowhere, High Orcs show up, monsters that should not even be in this kind of dungeon.
High Orcs are insanely strong, strong enough to easily take down B-Rank Hunters, and they are nearly as powerful as an A-Rank Hunter.
Son Ki-Hoon, Lee Bora, Gina, and Seo Jiwoo try to hold them off, but it is too much. Jinwoo decides to help in secret, using his stealth skill so no one notices.
He sneakily takes down some High Orcs, making it look like the guild members defeated them. Even then, the squad realizes this dungeon is way too tough for them.
Their leader, Son Ki-Hoon, decides they should retreat. But then they realize they are trapped. The dungeon gate is cursed, they can’t leave.

Before they can figure out what to do, an army of High Orcs appears. The Orcs don’t kill them right away. Instead, they capture the squad and take them to their master, Kargalgan.
Son Ki-Hoon knows they won’t make it out alive. So, he and Gina come up with a plan, while they distract the boss, Jinwoo will run to the gate and call for help.
When they finally reach the throne hall, they come face-to-face with Kargalgan, a shaman, unlike anything they have ever seen before!
