Looks like Blue Lock Episode Nagi is ending. Volume 8 is confirmed to be the final volume of the series and will be released on August 12, 2025.

Episode Nagi: The genius’s story finally reaches its conclusion!

Nagi has been a fan favorite from day one. A lot of fans relate to him. That is probably one of the reasons why the author Muneyuki Kaneshiro decided to give him his own spinoff. Episode Nagi started on June 9, 2022, and while the main Blue Lock manga comes out weekly, Episode Nagi is monthly.

So far, the spinoff has 34 chapters total, and 32 of those were compiled in the first 7 volumes. Volume 7 was released on May 16 and covered chapters 29 to 32. Compared to the main plot, Episode Nagi is far behind. Right now, in Blue Lock, the Neo Egoist League just ended, and the U-20 World Cup arc just started. But in Episode Nagi, we are just finishing the Second Selection.

A lot of fans were expecting Episode Nagi to go all the way and eventually connect back to the main timeline. Many still believe Nagi will return somehow and play in the U-20 World Cup. But since he was not selected in the top 23 players, we saw him leave Blue Lock and return home, and now, with Episode Nagi ending, it really looks like his story might be over.

But that might not be the case. Episode Nagi ending does not automatically mean Nagi’s story is done for good. Remember that the spinoff is way behind the main story. Moreover, the author, already confirmed that Nagi is the second main character of Blue Lock. So it is possible he is setting something up and might bring Nagi back later.

Remember what happened with Kunigami. He got eliminated during the Second Selection. But instead of leaving, he went into the wildcard route and came back during the Neo Egoist League. Now he is in the U-20 World Cup team as well. That is why a lot of fans are still holding out hope for Nagi. Maybe he will take a different path too and show up later in the main story.

Blue Lock: Episode Nagi has been serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since June 9, 2022. In addition to the manga, Blue Lock: Episode Nagi has also been adapted into an anime film. Kodansha describes the story of the spinoff as:

Second-year high school student Reo Mikage wants nothing more than to escape his illustrious family’s shadow by becoming a soccer star and winning the World Cup. The only thing that’s missing is a talented diamond in the rough who can help him achieve his dream. That’s when he sets his sights on Seishiro Nagi, a notorious slacker whose quick reflexes are the only hint of athletic ability. Can Reo find the switch to awaken the beast inside Nagi?
