Blue Box Chapter 206 Recap

Blue Box Chapter 206 opens with a full panel of Hina doing gymnastics. Her thoughts come in, saying that in the end, no one else really understands how you feel, so you have to manage your own emotions. That line reflects her situation exactly in the latest chapter. She knows her feelings are still there, and she does not want anyone to see that anymore.

Train Ride Begins

Once on the train, Taiki asks if she wants the window or aisle seat, and Hina replies that she would like to have the window seat. After sitting, Taiki casually teases her about missing it earlier. The usual teasing happens back and forth. Taiki asks for a treat as a reward for saving her and not leaving her behind alone. But the situation suddenly becomes awkward for both of them.

A random older woman walks by and calls them lovebirds. Taiki denies it right away, which makes things worse.

Aww, a pair of students. Are you two going on a trip as little lovebirds?

Hina watches his frantic denial and thinks to herself, trying to rationalize why he jumped off the train for her. She tries to remind herself that Taiki would have done the same thing for anyone.

Conversations Shift to Nationals

To avoid more awkwardness, they change the topic to sports. Taiki brings up how the third year is near and the qualifiers are coming fast.

Taiki jokingly says maybe he will suddenly get better at badminton from riding the bullet train. Hina smiles and says he would not be happy with skills he did not earn. Taiki is really happy with that answer and says, “I knew you’d understand, Hina”.

Hina’s Emotions Come Back Again in Blue Box Chapter 206

Hina keeps encouraging him and says he will be fine at nationals. Taiki says he can’t let his guard down because there are still people he needs to beat. When Hina confidently says she knows he will win, Taiki gets really moved by her support.

Now, here comes the most painful part of the Blue Box Chapter 206. Taiki opens up and tells Hina that hearing her say that makes him feel like he can really win. He admits he admires her a lot and how she fully embraced rhythmic gymnastics until it became part of her.

For Taiki, he is just trying to open up to a friend since, in his mind, Hina has moved on already. But for Hina, who still has feelings for him, these words are torture. She thinks:

Why does this still make me so happy?”

And suddenly starts tearing up inside. She is devastated that his compliments still affect her this much when she knows he is dating Chinatsu.

As Taiki starts getting sleepy, he says, “Hina? Let’s go to nationals together”. He means it as friendship and shared goals, but for Hina, it is pretty much a sad reminder of everything she wanted but can’t have.

She calls herself “the worst” for still having these feelings when she thought she was over him.

Both of them fall asleep, and Hina’s head ends up on Taiki’s shoulder. When they arrive in Tokyo, their teacher is furious and waiting for them with Nina, Ayame, and other students.

At the end of the chapter, Kyo asks Hina if something happened on the train, and she responds, “Nah, nothing yet“.

Blue Box Chapter 206 Review

Hina’s internal struggle throughout Blue Box Chapter 206 feels so real. She is trying to convince herself that Taiki’s actions were not special while simultaneously being happy about his compliments. The way she calls herself “the worst” for still having feelings shows how much she is beating herself up.

What makes this chapter work so well is that neither character is doing anything wrong. Taiki is being a good friend, and Hina is still trying to move on, even though the manga hinted that she has already moved on. But circumstances keep putting them in situations where her feelings get stirred up again.

Blue Box Chapter 206 basically undoes all the progress Hina made in moving on. Just when it looked like she might start something with Yusa, she is back to square one with her Taiki feelings. The fact that she fell asleep on his shoulder is definitely going to cause problems.

The love triangle that seemed to be ending is clearly back in full force. But unlike before, this feels like it won’t last much longer since Kouji Miura has already hinted towards Hina and Haruto.

The chapter is now available to read on Manga Plus for free.
