The live-action adaptation of “Manager Kim” has officially confirmed So Ji-sub as the lead actor. Known for his recent role in Netflix’s “Mercy for None”, So Ji-sub will now take on the role of Senior Manager Kim, a former black-ops agent turned single father, in an 8-episode drama that follows a desperate rescue mission.

“Manager Kim” originally began as a webtoon back in November 2021 and quickly gained popularity as it is a spin-off series of a massively popular webtoon called “Lookism“. It exists in the same universe as Lookism, Viral Hit, and My Life as a Loser. The main character, Mr. Kim, is a former special agent who now lives a quiet life as an ordinary man and a single dad. But everything changes when his daughter Minji goes missing after a fight. The peaceful father turns into someone ruthless, willing to destroy anything in his way to save her.

In Lookism, Manager Kim first showed up in Chapter 290 during the Workers (4th Affiliate) Arc, and since then, his presence has only grown in importance across PTJ’s shared universe.

So Ji-sub as Manager Kim

So Ji-sub has been officially cast as Manager Kim. The live-action adaption series will be an 8-episode series, and although no release date has been confirmed yet, the project has been in production for some time. It will be based on the original Naver Webtoon titled “Manager Kim” and will likely follow the same exact story.

Since it’s tied into the larger PTJ webtoon universe, many fans are curious if we will see cameos or hints about other characters like Samuel SEO or Warren Chae. Webtoon describes the story as:

Single father, company manager, and former black-ops member, Mr. Kim lived an ordinary life until his daughter, Minji, went missing. After discovering his daughter could be dead, Mr. Kim turns merciless and sets out for information. He will rescue his daughter by any means necessary, even if it means destroying everything and everyone standing in his path.
