The Ship Has Sunk

It was obvious from the start that Hina and Taiki were not going to be endgame, but that did not stop a lot of fans from hoping. Now, with this episode, it is confirmed, it is not happening.

Blue Box Episode 24 picks up right where the last one left off, with Nina telling Hina to ask Taiki for a reply to her confession. But Hina refuses.

She does not want an answer until Taiki is ready. However, when she sees Taiki looking at Chinatsu again, her smile fades.

Later that night, the joint training camp wraps up, and the school decides to hold a campfire night. Hina is already struggling with her emotions for Taiki, and at the start of the episode, she’s daydreaming about what life would be like if Taiki actually liked her back.

Her best friend Ayame notices and decides to take things into her own hands. When Taiki forgets his jacket in the gym, Ayame tells him to go get it. At the same time, she sends Hina there to bring a speaker, setting them up to be alone together.

The Moment of Truth

At the gym, Taiki and Hina sit down and watch the campfire in silence. They start talking about old memories, and Hina suddenly brings up a question from game night, one that Taiki never answered before.

She asks him who he was going to choose back then. Before he can answer, Hina says it herself, she already knows it was Chinatsu.

Then, in the moment, Hina confesses again. But this time, she immediately tries to run away. Taiki stops her and finally tells her the truth. He can’t date her.

Hina says she does not want an answer yet, but Taiki does not change his mind. He knows that Chinatsu is the one he loves, and nothing will change that.

Hina runs outside, and Ayame catches her. She breaks down crying, saying that Taiki told her his feelings won’t change, it will always be Chinatsu.

Blue Box Episode 24 Review

Telecom Animation Film absolutely nailed this episode. The animation was top-tier, and the emotions in every scene were handled perfectly.

The facial expressions, the way the lighting set the mood, and even the smallest detail, all of it made the rejection scene hit even harder.

The cinematography during the gym scene was incredibly well-directed. The slow build-up, the use of silence, and the moment Hina ran away all felt so real.

Even the sound design was so perfect, When Taiki stopped Hina and said sorry, all the background noise faded out, and the only thing you could hear was Hina’s heartbeat.

Then, when he finally said he could not date her, the music started playing. That whole scene was perfectly timed.

Overall, Blue Box Episode 24 was hands down the best episode so far. It concluded the love triangle in the most natural way possible.
