Shangri-La Frontier Episode 48 (Season 2 Episode 23) will be released on March 16. The Global Game Competition arc has started, but since Season 2 is listed for 25 episodes, only half of this arc will be adapted, and we only have three episodes left before the second season concludes.
The Global Game Competition arc is one of the two longest arcs in the series so far, with a total of 51 chapters. But out of those 51 chapters, only six have been adapted into the anime so far in Episodes 46 and 47.

What is the Global Game Competition Arc About?
Kei Uomi, also known as Oikatzo in Shangri-La Frontier, is a pro gamer who asked his online gaming buddies, Rakuro and Towa, to team up with him for the upcoming Global Game Competition.
Both of them accepted, and when they arrived at the competition location, they found out they’d be facing the strongest fighting game competitive team.
The game they are playing is Galaxia Heroes: Chaos, an unreleased version of the latest Galaxia Heroes game. It is developed by the same company behind Shangri-La Frontier.
During the Global Game Competition, an exhibition match between two teams, “Nitro Squad” and “Star Rain” is set up to promote the game before its fall release.
Sine Galaxia Heroes: Chaos runs on the same engine as Shangri-La Frontier, Kei Uomi figured Rakuro and Towa would be the perfect teammates for this match.
But their fourth player, Megumi, who is also in Nitro Squad, didn’t trust Rakuro and Towa’s skills. So, she challenged Rakuro to a match in Galaxia Heroes, but he ended up defeating her. Later, Kei Uomi also played against Rakuro just to test something, and he lost too.
Then, Kei Uomi explained that Rakuro’s playstyle is similar to Sylvia Goldberg, the main player of Star Rain, who had completely destroyed him in a previous Global Game Competition.
In Shangri-La Frontier Episode 48, Kei Uomi will show his teammates his past matches against Sylvia, America’s No.1 player.

Major Spoilers From Shangri-La Frontier Episode 48
What To Expect From Shangri-La Frontier Episode 48?
Shangri-La Frontier Episode 48 will pick up right where the last episode ended. Kei Uomi will explain that even with all his skills, he lost to Sylvia in just seconds.
He was using Armed Lava, while Sylvia used Metius, which is why he asked Rakuro to play against him using Metius.
Megumi will ask Rakuro what he thinks about Sylvia, and he will admit that while they both have a similar playstyle, Sylvia is way faster than him.
He even says that he would not be able to beat her. Kei Uomi will also reveal his record against Sylvia, which is 0 wins, 8 losses, and 1 draw.

Rakuro Meets Sylvia
Later, Rakuro will stop by a 24/7 market, where he sees a foreigner struggling to order black coffee at the counter.
She is wearing a mask and glasses and seems to have trouble explaining what she wants. Since she’s from America and doesn’t speak fluent Japanese, Rakuro helps her out.
However, he does not realize that the person he just helped is actually Sylvia, a member of the team they are going up against.
Later that day, Sylvia returns to her hotel room. Since players from overseas can’t access Shangri-La Frontier, and the game has been getting a lot of attention worldwide, she logs in to try it out herself.
Meanwhile, instead of practicing for Galaxia Heroes, Rakuro also heads back to his hotel room and logs into Shangri-La Frontier.
He wants to check on things since his party ended up in the undersea city after running into Ctarnidd of the Abyss, one of the Seven Colossi.
Shangri-La Frontier Episode 48 is going to adapt Chapters 117, 118, and 119 from the manga.
