Solo Leveling Season 2 Released New Trailer Teasing Jeju Island Raid and the Pre-Mature Ant King

Solo Leveling Season 2 is finally adapting the most awaited arc of the entire series, the Jeju Island Arc. This is the 13th arc in the Solo Leveling webtoon series, and it looks like Season 2 will end with this arc.

A lot of big media outlets thought it was impossible to adapt six arcs in just 13 episodes but A-1 Pictures did it and they did it perfectly.

While they did cut a few panels from the webtoon, nothing major was removed, so it did not affect the story at all.

While many of us trusted A-1 Pictures with the pacing and expected them to adapt the Jeju Island Arc, a lot of fans were unsure.

There was no hint of Jeju Island in the opening or ending songs, and even the trailers didn’t tease this arc.

However, today, a new Solo Leveling Season 2 PV (trailer) was released, and it finally teased the Jeju Island Arc.

  • Why Does the Ant King Look Different in the Trailer?

Many fans were confused because the Ant King looks different from the webtoon, but this is because he has not evolved yet. He will grow stronger and take his final form in the upcoming episodes.

How Far Has the Anime Adapted the Webtoon?

At the time of writing, the anime has adapted 92 chapters of the Solo Leveling webtoon. The Jeju Island Arc starts from chapter 90 and ends on chapter 107,

Why is the Solo Leveling Jeju Island Arc So Popular?

Without spoiling too much, the Jeju Island Arc is considered the best arc in the entire Solo Leveling series because of Jinwoo vs the Ant King.

As shown in the anime, Japanese S-Rank Hunters, including Goto Ryuji (Japan’s strongest hunter), have arrived in Korea to help with the 4th Jeju Island Raid.

A long time ago, an S-Rank Gate appeared on Jeju Island. Since hunters were weaker back then, they couldn’t close the gate in time, and the dungeon broke open.

Countless ants swarmed the island, killing hunters and civilians and making the island uninhabitable. However, since the ants could not fly, they remained trapped on the island.

That changed recently, the ants started evolving. Realizing the danger, Japan offered to help Korea, and both countries made a plan. Since ants only live for one year, the plan as revealed in the anime is:

  • Japanese S-Rank Hunters would bait the ants outside.
  • Korean S-Rank Hunters would enter the ant queen’s lair and kill her.
  • With no queen, the ants would die out naturally in one year.

But they did not expect someone as powerful as Ant King to be there. The Ant King was so strong that he easily killed Japan’s strongest hunter and even took down S-Rank hunters of Korea and killed the healer as well. The entire raid started going very wrong.

How Was Ant King Defeated?

Just when things took a dark turn, Jinwoo used Shadow Exchange to teleport to the island and faced the Ant King in battle.

After a long one-sided fight, Jinwoo defeated the Ant King. But instead of leaving him dead, he used his Shadow Extraction ability to bring him back as a shadow soldier.

That is how Beru was born, one of Jinwoo’s strongest soldiers and the fan-favorite character of the entire series. Fandom describes the Jeju Island Arc as:

With his mother finally cured of Eternal Slumber, Jinwoo decides to sit out of the Jeju Island Raid to look after her. However, he is ultimately forced to change his mind when a monstrous ant shows up during the raid and starts slaughtering S-Ranks left and right.
