After a one-week break, Chainsaw Man is finally back with a new chapter. Turns out the puked-up devil is Hirofumi Yoshida, the octopus devil.
Probably not the devil most people thought it would be, but he might be the key to escaping the Aging Devil.
Yoshida isn’t really on Denji’s side, though. He’s super loyal to Public Safety. But to get out of the Aging World, Yoru, Denji, and Yoshida team up, and it looks like Yoshida has some kind of plan too.
Yoshida’s got a contract with the octopus devil, and he first showed up in Chapter 55. The octopus devil itself got eaten by Chainsaw Man in Chapter 174, “Ayyy Aging” and the concept was erased.
Chainsaw Man Chapter 189 Release Date
Chainsaw Man Chapter 189 will be released on 7th January 2025 at 8:00 a.m. PT. While in Japan, the chapter will be available at 12 am JST on 8th January.

Yoshida Has A Plan – Recap
Chainsaw Man Chapter 188, titled, ‘Octopus, War, Chainsaw’ starts with Denji barfing up ‘a person’. Turns out, the “devil” Denji threw up was actually Yoshida (contract with the Octopus Devil). As mentioned above, back in 174, the Octopus devil was consumed by Chainsaw Man along with Snow and Bitterness devil.
Asa quickly recognizes him as the guy who chopped off her arm and demands an apology, but Yoshida points out she still has both arms, with Denji casually saying arms can grow back sometimes.
Yoshida gets curious about why the Aging Devil has not just killed them, even though it easily could. After hearing about the devil’s weird plan to trade kids’ lives in exchange for being eaten, Yoshida starts putting things together.
Since he is with Public Safety, he tells Denji that if this deal is happening, it means Public Safety is probably working with the Aging Devil. And if that is true, it technically makes Yoshida and Denji enemies.
He suggests a truce to survive. He even tries to shake hands with Asa, who tries to punch him instead. Eventually, he explains a lesson from his teacher about how humans and bears don’t benefit from fighting, convincing Denji to team up for now.
At the end of the chapter, Yoshida realizes Denji and Pochita’s stomachs are connected and asks Denji to let him shove his hand in his mouth.
What To Expect From Chainsaw Man Chapter 189
Out of everyone, Pochita decided Yoshida would be the most useful, which pretty much shows that Pochita thinks Yoshida is the smartest of the bunch. Judging from the events of Chainsaw Man 188, It seems like Pochita is right.
Even after ending up stuck in the Aging World, Yoshida has stayed calm, thought things through, and already has a plan.
Theory: Since Pochita and Denji’s stomachs are connected, Yoshida figures he can use the tentacles of the Octopus Devil to create a way back to the real world.
The idea is to use Pochita’s stomach as a link to transport themselves out. But this plan seems like it only helps Asa/Yoru and Yoshida. There is no way for Denji to return if it means he has to eat himself.
